What is Music Match?

Music Match is a QR code music card game where players race to discard their hand by matching cards to the song currently playing in Spotify. It is simple to learn, quick to play, and perfect for parties, family nights, and team events.

How to play Music Match

Setup

Deal 7 Match cards to each player.
Place the QR cards face up in the center.
Put Claim Cubes in the middle, always one fewer than the number of players.
Give the DJ Token to one player to start the round.

Gameplay

The DJ scans a QR card with the Music Match app.
The song plays through Spotify.
Everyone races to play a card that matches the music.
Grab a Claim Cube when you play. The last player without a cube risks penalties.
Flip the played cards to reveal who matched correctly, then continue to the next round.

Seven ways to match

Each QR card offers seven categories, so every player has a way to win, even without encyclopedic music knowledge.

Artist, identify who performs the song.
Title, name the track.
Decade, match the era of the song.
Country, guess the artist’s origin.
Vocals, male or female lead vocals.
Genre, pop, rock, hip hop, or another style.
#1 Top 40, was it a chart-topping number one?

Strategy and twists that keep it exciting

Artist and Title are exclusive, once claimed in a round, others cannot play the same category.
Claim Cubes add pressure, miss one and a wrong match can mean double penalties.
DJ Token rotates, the player with the fewest cards becomes the next DJ to keep things dynamic.
Task Cards inject surprises to shake up your strategy.

Music Match is available at major retailers in the Netherlands. The current edition is in Dutch, with more language versions coming soon.
