Give QRSong! as a gift: you pick the songs, they keep the set

Order the cards, make a gift voucher in My account, and they redeem it into their own account with the design, the PDF, QRGames and the app design.

A gift card is the safe present: they choose the songs, they make the cards, nobody gets it wrong. But if you know their music, the better present is the one where you did the choosing. The summer you met, the band you saw together, the songs from the year they were born.

The catch used to be what happened after you handed it over. The set lived in your account, so the PDF, the games and the app design stayed with you. That is fixed now: you give the set with a gift voucher, and once they redeem it, it is theirs.

Why a set and not a gift card

A gift card hands over a budget. A set hands over a choice you made for one person, and the moment that makes these work is someone turning over the third card and recognising the song.

That only happens when the songs were picked for them. A gift card is still the right answer when you have no idea what they listen to, and it is on the gift card page. When you do know, make the set.

How it works

  1. Order the cards as usual, in your own name, delivered to you. Pick a playlist or paste your own, design the cards, add a gift box if you like. Nothing in the order mentions the gift.
  2. Make the voucher in My account. On the set, choose Give as a gift. Type who it is for, the name it is from, a short message, and the language it should be printed in. You can put several sets of the same order on one voucher.
  3. Print it or tuck it in. The voucher is an A5 PDF with their name, your message, a QR code and a code to type. Print it, fold it into the box, slide it into a card.
  4. They redeem it by scanning the code or going to qrsong.io/redeem. They log in, or make a free account with an e-mail address, a code we send and a password. The set moves into their account, next to any playlists they already have.

If the cards are printed, they work before any of this: anyone can scan one with the free QRSong! app and play. Redeeming is what gives them the rest.

What goes along

Everything that belongs to the set:

  • The cards in your design. They were printed that way, so that is how they stay.
  • The PDF, for cards to print yourself, which they can download again from their own account.
  • QRGames, if you added it. Music Bingo, Music Trivia and Music Timeline for that playlist, hosted from their account. It is an add-on of $6.00 per playlist; when they open the voucher's link, they see whether it comes with the set.
  • Your app design, if you made one. With App Designer the free QRSong! app switches to your design as soon as the first card is scanned. That keeps working on their cards after the gift is redeemed.

What does not go along is App Designer itself. It is an upgrade on your account, and it stays there, along with your order and your invoice. They get the design you made for these cards; if they want to change it, they can get App Designer themselves.

It stays a secret

We never contact the person you are giving it to. Nothing changes until they redeem the voucher, and when they do, they see "a gift from" your name and your message. They never see what you paid, your order number or your invoice.

After the redeem you get a short e-mail that they have redeemed it, and the set in your account shows as given.

Timing for Sinterklaas and Christmas

The voucher can be made once the set is ready to hand over:

  • Digital cards: as soon as the PDF is ready.
  • Printed cards: once they have gone to the printer. Until then you can still make corrections, and the order is yours to change.

So for a printed set, order early enough for the cards to arrive, and make the voucher when My account says it can. The shipping page has the delivery times per country.

A few things that help

  • Write the message. It is printed on the voucher, and it is the part people keep.
  • Put the voucher in the box, on top of the cards. It explains what the cards are to someone who has never seen them.
  • Lost it? Cancel the voucher in My account and make a new one. The old code stops working straight away.

Questions people ask about this

Can I give QRSong! cards to someone else?

Yes. Order the cards as usual, then choose Give as a gift on the set in My account. You get a voucher to print or put in the box. When they redeem it, the set moves to their own account with the card design, and with QRGames and your app design if you added them.

Do they need a QRSong! account?

Only to redeem the voucher, and it takes a minute: an e-mail address, a code we send and a password. Printed cards work straight away with the free QRSong! app, before anyone redeems anything. If they already have an account, the gift joins their own playlists.

Will they see what I paid?

No. They see who it is from and your message. The price, the order number and the invoice stay in your account.

Can I give App Designer?

App Designer stays in your account. The app design you made for the set goes along and keeps showing on their cards in the QRSong! app. If they get App Designer themselves, they can change it.

When can I make the voucher?

For digital cards as soon as the PDF is ready. For printed cards once they have gone to the printer; until then My account tells you the set cannot be given yet.

What if the voucher gets lost?

Cancel it in My account and make a new one. The old code stops working immediately, and the set stays in your account until the new voucher is redeemed.
